The messages that are clearly spoken in each school presentation…You’re loved, you’re an individual, it’s ok to say ‘no’, it’s about who you are- not what you look like, you are valued…are ones that are so often drowned out by what the rest of the world are shouting about.
Being a teenager is an embarrassing age; it’s awkward and difficult and to have a presentation on sex and relationships that is so easy to engage with is absolutely vital. I know that if I’d seen the presentations that Going Public take into schools when I was a teenager, it would have had a massive effect on the way I thought about myself and the decisions I made.
That is why I liaise with as many teachers and PSE professionals as I can, to get into as many schools as possible. I believe wholeheartedly that every young person deserves to have the opportunity to walk away from a presentation with a fresh, re-positioned, truth-filled outlook on who they are and just how valuable that is.
